About CrimeStoppers
QUAD Communities Crime
Stoppers is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that is funded primarily
by private donations from members of the community. This includes individuals,
corporations, associations, clubs, retailers and other organizations. All
contributions are tax-deductible.
MEDIA INVOLVEMENT
In order to publicize the Crime
Stoppers Program and maintain a high profile in the community, a specific
unsolved felony or misdemeanor crime is selected weekly and featured on
local television stations. In addition, the selected crime is aired on
the radio stations throughout the area and appears in the daily newspaper.
Crime Stoppers does not pay for
TV, radio and newspaper time or space. All production expenses and air
time costs are absorbed by the cooperating media as a public service.
Nearly all newspapers, radio
stations and television stations in the QUAD Communities are participating
in this effort.
NEWS
This
article is in reference to Quad Communities Crime Stoppers; Kimberly, Kaukauna,
Combine Locks and Little Chute and an incident involving several thefts
from Kimberly High School. Three juveniles were caught based on an
anonymous tip.
On March 31, 2003, I,
Deputy Paul Langenberg employed with Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department
and contracted with Kimberly High School as a Liaison Officer made a written
announcement for the morning announcements at Kimberly High School of a
reward in the amount of $50.00 dollars for any information regarding the
Damage/Theft of student locks at Kimberly High School. Prior to the
announcement several students had reported their locks damaged or missing.
On April 1, 2003 I received
an anonymous tip that a juvenile student at Kimberly High was taking student
locks, agendas and a calculator. The calculator was taken from a
Kimberly High School teacher’s classroom. The calculator was valued
at $100.00 dollars. The cost of a replacement lock was $5.00-7.00
dollars and $5.00 dollars for a new agenda. Students had to buy new
locks and agendas through Kimberly High School if theirs were missing or
lost.
Completing the three week
investigation three juvenile students at Kimberly High where referred to
Outagamie County Juvenile court system for charges of Felony Theft and
Party to a Crime. The three juveniles took over the course of the
2002-2003 School year over 1,000.00 dollars of schoolbooks, student locks
and agenda’s. Two $100.00 dollar calculators were also taken.
This tip is an example
of an individual who helped the Kimberly High School and community.
My belief is the community is its greatest protector of the community.
Persons who get involved to stop criminal activity. Criminals take
advantage of other people and the fact that nobody wants to be a snitch.
Criminals are the only one who benefit from people not telling on them
and their activity.
I want to thank the Quad
Communities Crime Stoppers for their efforts to protect the community.
Keep up the good work.
